Computers and Navigators
Who could have imagined a few years ago that automotive navigation systems would use GPS satellites, and other sensors, to pinpoint the precise location of your vehicle?
How about systems that 'think' on your behalf, warning and guiding you in advance of any problems ahead? Incredible? Futuristic? No! These systems are available right NOW!
And even more recently mobile phone and computer applications (called "Apps" for short) are being developed in their thousands that offer great holiday options for our DriveWA clients.
Please see our new page on Apps.
Some of the new automotive navigation systems from well-known electronics manufacturers are almost human – in fact are better at navigation than most humans. They operate just as if it were another person by your side whilst you drive. They anticipate, warn, calculate and re-calculate; constantly responding to everything you do within the vehicle.
They combine leading-edge technology with advanced systems and software, to provide intuitive real time navigation. As signals from GPS satellites arrive at the navigation computer, the GPS uses information from your car's gyro and tachometer to calculate your position.
The navigation computer uses its CD-ROM maps to work out the best route for you, from where you are to where you want to be. At the appropriate moment, just before each turn, the system will give you a data display and spoken instructions, leaving you free to concentrate on the road.
If you are in an unfamiliar neighbourhood, whether it's raining, foggy, dusty or just plain dark, the system will take you right to the door, taking the stress out of driving. The better systems have striking built-in multimedia displays, voice guidance systems, zoom functions, detailed pictograms, and route maps that give you full visual feedback at all times. Travel times and ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) are displayed and updated continuously.
The systems are easy to install and use and come with an easy to use remote control.
