"Escape with the Gold" to Kalgoorlie - Introduction.

DriveWA.com's Chairman Chris Pye is creating the 8greatEscapes series to showcase the 8 best self drive trails in WA.    Along the way we have created a number of shorter itineraries which will feature some of the best drives in WA.

We have decided to release them separately and immediately and the first to be released is the fabulous "Escape with the Gold" itinerary from Perth(Fremantle) to Kalgoorlie.

It can be taken as a 3 night itinerary or longer and in its complete form can be a 9 night itinerary - so it can be a long weekend short break or a more relaxing and rewarding ramble through history and some of the magnificent country that is Australia's Golden Outback.

Now we have developed some special terminology (aussie slang "lingo") for the new 8greatEscapes series which you will need to know - this is not complex and a little crazy but I am sure you will be able to follow it - so stay tuned and look below!

As the 8greatEscapes are all about relaxing and having fun so we have created some of special "terms" for the series - they are easy enough to follow but perhaps need some explanation.

Because these are "escapes" the vehicle you drive to get away is your (wait for it)...."Getaway Car"

The people who seem determined to keep you from getting away on these escapes - perhaps your boss, your bank manager, your friends, your partner(s), your children, the taxman - whomever they might be - are called "the Jailors" - because they keep you locked in the stressful environment you are in and prevent you, one way or another, from taking the DriveWA escape of your dreams

"The Loot"  means "the lot" and is pronounced "loot" - much like you might buy a hamburger with the lot - you can get a DriveWA escape with the lot which has loads of great features piled into the package.   "The Loot" of course follows the escape theme - and refers to what we are trying to get away with or enjoy!

And of course once you are in these pages you are a potential "Escapee".

The last term in this series is the "Get out of Jail Free card" which in this context refers to your "WA Pass."    Many of our clients would have played Monopoly (originally apparently patented by Charles Darrow) as youngsters and at some time while travelling around the Board (perhaps with the car token) would have drawn a card from the Chance or Community Chest which was a "get out of jail free" card.

That allowed you to keep it and use the card to escape free the next time you landed in "jail" for nothing (which otherwise cost you money after three throws etc).

So in this context, you can buy your WA Pass from us online and use it to save money while you are carrying out your escape.

Of course nothing much is free in the world of travel any more.   Your Get out of Jail Free card ie your WA Pass will make many of the things you might enjoy on your travels in our 8greatEscapes series much better value.  But sadly we cannot afford to give it to you for free - but it's cheap and great value!

So why not have a quick look at the WA Pass (oops ! Get out of Jail Free card website):

http://www.wapass.com.au/

And we want you to drive safely so we can have you back happy and healthy at the end of your DriveWA escape - the Jailors and your loved ones need you back - so we have compiled this safety video which we recommend to all young drivers and those who have not had a lot of experience driving in the WA outback where conditions are a bit unusual and things can go wrong quickly if you are not ready for them.

So spend a few moments having a look - it's good insurance - it might save your life!

So sit back at your computer, fasten your seat belt and lets go for the "Gold"!.
