Meekatharra is located 756km north-east of Perth and was established as a town during the goldrush. Population 1,414.

Meekatharra is a mining town, where mining, sheep and cattle are the main purpose. The town is located on the edge of the desert, and is dry and hot.

The word Meekatharra is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘place of little water’. The Court House is an interesting attraction for its history and structure.

Mount Augustus is the largest monolith in the world an only a short drive away.
