Kalgan's Pool
Kalgan's pool is one of the more popular destinations for a day's outing as its very close to Newman and the large pool rarely dries up. Accessible by four wheel drive vehicle only.
Track conditions vary throughout the year in particular the wet season produces a number of shallow water crossings. Always check the water depth on foot before crossing. The rail crossing and 1.8km access road from the Marble Bar Road to the Kalgan track entrance is on a BHP Billiton lease. A permit to travel on this lease can be obtained from the Newman Visitor Centre.

Opthalmia Dam
Located north east of Newman this is an ideal spot to have a barbecue swim or sail a boat (no power boats allowed). The lake covers 16 kilometers square and holds 30 million cubic meters. more
