This two storey house, made of stone, is modelled after the English estates of the 18th century. It was built in 1836 for Captain Sir Richard Spencer, the Government official of Albany, as his private residence.
The property is recognised as an important feature of Western Australia's heritage, dating back to the very beginning of European settlement in the area.
