Derby Jetty & Wharf
The present Jetty was constructed in replacement of the older wooden T shapes structure built in 1885. The current Jetty was constructed in 1963, acting as in importing station for live cattle and fuel oil. The last ship visited the port in 1973. Nowadays the Jetty stands as historical representation, a unique barging operation for lead and zinc, and a port for tourist and pleasure crafts.
Entrance to the Jetty contains a large mosaic tile structure depicting the Jetty's unique history.
This impressive Jetty experiences the highest tidal ranges of any wharf in Australia; reaching an amazing height 12 metres. Interpretive signs describe the geography of King Sound and provides reasoning for the huge tidal ranges.
